Woodlawn Robotics Team Takes Top Award at Regionals
Take a look at what really comes out of Woodlawn High School!
he Regional Chairman’s award is the most prestigious award given in FIRST( For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Competitions. It honors the principles and purpose of the competition that is the human achievement. It honors the efforts of the team to create the best partnerships and the most exemplary true meaning of FIRST. This award helps us to continue focus on the FIRST goal: Inspiring greater levels of respect and honor for science and technology.
The Robotics Team was seated on the stands patiently waiting for the results of the competition. The team was elated with triumphs of the opponent teams but suffered through the many awards given to other teams while thinking "…the next one is for us…" then suddenly the awards’ Master of ceremony began reading a letter that sounded like our school student’s conversations, desires, dreams, struggles, and accomplishments, we all got very quiet, holding hands, and inclining our heads towards the front in an attempt to hear every single word clearly. Then the sound of the number "7 6 8 The Techno-Warriors" broke the silence and jubilant screams filled the air. Many of us could not contain our joy and tears of happiness began to cover our cheeks. Oh God! What a wonderful feeling!
Congratulations to Yahaira Nix-Simmons, Michael Williams, Klara Kim, and Chayla Flemming who were selected as the Chairman’ Submission Team by their fellow Robotics Team to present to the competition judges. Your excellent presentation made us all victorious!
Congratulations to the Robotics Team for all the hard work and for this well deserved award. Congratulations to the Sponsors and to Woodlawn High School. We did it because of you!
